General Information

Jackson River Governor's School (JRGS) is a cooperative venture of Alleghany County Public Schools, Bath County Public Schools, Botetourt County Public Schools, Buena Vista City Public Schools, Covington City Public Schools, Dabney S. Lancaster Community College (DSLCC), and the Virginia Department of Education. It is a half-day Academic Year Governor's School located on the DSLCC main campus in Clifton Forge. Students spend each morning at the Governor's School in actual college classes and return to their high schools for lunch, afternoon classes, and extra-curricular activities. JRGS began serving students in 2000 and is the smallest Governor's School in Virginia. JRGS has one employee – a part-time director. Courses are contracted with DSLCC and taught by college staff.
