Academic Environment of Academic Year Governor's Schools

Governor's Schools allow students the opportunity to take responsibility for their learning, develop their identities, and prepare for their futures. AYGS programs provide challenging academic courses as well as chances to participate in real world opportunities while encouraging students to explore connections among content areas. Students have the experience of conducting and presenting projects and learn how to make contributions to their communities as well as to specific areas aligned with their individual talents and interests.

The experience of being a Governor's School student reaches beyond the classroom. Students leave with more than just knowledge because the experiences of being in a specialized Governor's School program motivates students to compete and stretch beyond previous limits. AYGS programs prepare students for future academic competition in college, shorten time to undergraduate degree completion, and prepare students for successful, fulfilling careers.
